Sun and swank is on the menu for the next ten days in Palm Springs.

Today is a picture perfect day as you can see. I may not leave the triple king size 20′ wide upholstered chaise until the sun sets.

I am at The Colony Palms, a decadent Moroccan oasis that once belonged to a notorious gangster from the 30s. This is great timing, as I am knee deep in research mode for a 30s/40s Flapper Soiree in April at my studio.

Today is the perfect trinity of the senses. Not only the view storybook: soaring palms (why do they instantly lower my blood pressure?) in a cloudless bright blue sky.

On the left of the pool, Coolside Daddy, a white hot jazz quartet, has been crooning for hours. Everyone’s polished toes are swaying to Ratpack standards, futher epitomizing everything I love about downtown Palm Springs. It is the ultimate time machine here – like walking right into a bygone era.

Third, The Purple Palm, one of the best new restaurants in the US, is serving the most eclectic, inventive, delicious food poolside. This may be my favorite restaurant stateside. The food is divine, the tasseled Moroccan cabana setting dreamy.

More to come…

January 16th, 2010: Out Cold
This morning I passed out in the bathroom. G heard a big thud, and rushed in to find me passed out on the bathroom floor, he woke me up and helped me up, and I instantly passed out again. We had to have an ambulance come, I got carried away in a neck brace and everything. In the end the hospital decided it was just a result of low blood pressure because of all my meds and sent me home. It is strange this life I live "post-hospitalization." Part of me wonders if I’ll ever be the same as i was before all of this again… most of me already knows, I won’t.
